The Pet Sitter Has Canceled

Have you heard of the pet sitter that canceled all their Winter Holiday pet bookings with less than a week's notice because they decided they wanted to go away themselves? 😳😱🤯

There are some incredible sitters in our areas. As an example, Asheville Area Professional Pet Sitters Association is an association of solo and company sitters that refer clients to each other regularly in Western North Carolina. They have to be professional and meet a number of requiremen

ts, and pay an annual membership fee, to be in the association.

When you choose a sitter who isn’t professional, you risk their personal life interfering with your plans. For us, showing up professionally includes being insured, bonded, background-checked, paying taxes on our business income, and having relevant training.

We have only ever canceled visits due to dangerous conditions or accidents. We require every client to list an emergency contact, close enough to walk to a client's house, who can fill in when the very worst happens.

We understand that budget is a concern, as we work to recover from Covid19, and years of high inflation, but we strongly urge you to find a professional sitter or company that is reliable and won't let their personal life disrupt your plans. The leading organization for training and certifying pet sitters is Pet Sitters International and the insurance company we use is Business Insurers of the Carolinas. Choose a certified professional who is insured who won’t cancel the last minute over a busy travel holiday to go out of town themselves.

Our hearts go out to clients who have to scramble to find pet care at the last minute or abandon their holiday plans.
